The first winner of Mr Gay UK stabbed a man to death before cutting a piece of flesh from his thigh, cooking it and trying to eat it, a court has heard.

Anthony Morley, 36, of Bexley Avenue, Leeds, then walked to a nearby takeaway and told staff he had killed someone, Leeds Crown Court was told.

Mr Morley, who worked as a chef, denies murdering 33-year-old Damian Oldfield.

The jury heard pieces of cooked human flesh were found in his kitchen and in a bin bag.

Opening the case for the prosecution, Andrew Stubbs QC told the jury that the two men had been involved in some kind of relationship in the past and that Mr Morley was troubled by his sexuality.

Brazil’s best-known rabbi, who was charged with shoplifting in Florida last week, entered hospital on Friday for what doctors called a mood disorder after using drugs that may cause confusion and amnesia.

Rabbi Henry Sobel asked for a suspension from his duties as chief of Sao Paulo Rabbinate on Thursday after media reports he had been charged with stealing expensive ties during a trip to Florida.

The Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in Sao Paulo said in a statement Sobel was admitted “due to an episode of mood disorder, represented by a lack of emotional control and altered behavior.”

It said he had been taking large quantities of drugs to treat severe insomnia that “cause potential states of mental confusion and amnesia”.

Trevis Smith, a one-time Canadian Football League linebacker, was convicted of aggravated sexual assault for exposing two women to the virus that causes AIDS by having unprotected sex without telling them about his condition.

During the trial, the [British Columbia] woman testified she had a relationship with Smith that spanned more than three years.

She said the two had unprotected sex numerous times after he found out he was HIV-positive in November 2003. But he never told her he had the virus, she testified, even when he knew she planned to donate a kidney to her ailing father.

It was just after midnight on a Saturday night.

Out on a date with her beau in a budding romance, she did what all good girls do - she checked in with her dad, told him her plans and promised to be home no later than 3 a.m.

Hours later, this University of Tennessee college senior would be inside a house surrounded by strangers intent on hurting her. She would be bound but awake and aware.

She would have known that her boyfriend was being beaten. She might even have seen it. She would have known that he was being led to his death. She might have watched his killer or killers return, bloodied and reeking of gasoline.

If she pleaded for help, none came, not even from an apparent eyewitness, a woman.

She was raped and beaten by an assailant or assailants savvy enough and calm enough to try to cover their tracks. They forced her mouth open and sprayed some type of household cleaner inside in an apparent attempt to wipe out any DNA their acts may have left.

And when the ordeal was through, she was bagged and put inside a trashcan. Authorities won’t say if she was alive or dead by that point.

Strangely, this case—eerily similar to the Wichita Massacre—hasn’t received nearly the national attention as the Duke University rape hoax.
